Add internal links with a clear purpose

Help readers move between related articles without turning every paragraph into a list of links.

Map the next useful question

Read the source page as a visitor. Identify the point where an explanation, comparison or next step would help, then find the page that addresses it directly.

Choose descriptive anchors

Use natural words that tell the reader what the destination covers. Avoid repeating the same exact phrase across unrelated contexts or adding a link only to meet a quota.

Review both ends

Confirm the destination loads, still matches the anchor and adds information. Update the source sentence if the destination has changed. Keep links to unpublished or removed pages out of live content.

Revisit links when content changes

After a substantial rewrite, inspect incoming and outgoing links. The strongest linking map follows the current questions and content, so it needs maintenance as the site grows.
